Good-bye Cake?
Hey buddies, just a quick note. I’m feeling pretty good. Recording my food for the Nutritionist that I’m going to get counselling from and doing good with my workouts!
I KNOW what to do, but sometimes I think it’s about the ‘psychology’ of it, like overcoming that part of you that WANTS the cake when you see it. So, I scanned my library and I’m getting out lots of books on HABITS and how to change them. I know my omega 3’s and 6’s and HDL and LDL etc. I know my antioxidant food and blah, blah, blah. But what I still don’t know is HOW to walk past that plate of fresh cupcakes at the office when they look so yummy, even though I have a lovely bowl of veggie sticks on my desk. I like veggie sticks, I do, but I like cake more!!!
Sometimes I walk past, but all too often….I don’t.
So, that is my next challenge with this journey, to change my relationship with food and not want the stupid cakes and crap anymore. I’ll let you know how it goes!
That nutritionist sounds like she’s going to be very helpful! You’re so cool Sam!! I mean, that’s really honest!
Knowing and doing are 2 different things entirely. If we all did what we KNOW we’re supposed to do, the world would be a much different place, hmmmm? LOL Be sure to list all the good tips you find in your books!
And thanks so much for your comment on my blog today. It WAS hard to admit all that stuff here, even harder to admit it to myself in bed last night, laying there STUFFED, counting calories in my head.
Ugh! But it’s better to admit it and work on it with the help of my buddies! Thanks for being there for me
Have you ever tried visualizing this cupcake as lard or that unpleasent fat that congeals on top of fatty entrees the next day? Helps me sometimes.
Mostly, I just have a quick chat with myself about my next weigh-in, and generally it just loses its appeal.
The good news is that once you start passing them by consistently, you will stop craving them. Sugars are habit-forming, so once you break the habit, you are clear for a while.
YAH! I’m glad you went to see the nutritionist! Great investment.
I think visualizing it as Leida expressed is a great idea.
Oh girl! You KNOW I hear you! LOL! Keep it up sister… we can do it!
Wow great idea on how to visualize it. I think this is what you needed!!!
Man….I am SO into this blog. I have that very same issue. I know exactly what to do and why, but not exactly how on the brain level.
If you find the secret, Sam, please let me know!! We had day old chocolate cake in the fridge at work today.. could I ignore it? Nope. Had to grab a fork and take a bite. Next time thru, another bite…. UG! So please do share if you figure it out!!!
